Meet the Team

It is our incredible staff that make The Personalised Learning College such a special place. Their passion and dedication for our learners is at the heart of everything we do. Every success story begins with a team member who truly cares, and that’s what sets us apart.

Meet the team here:

Debbie

Debbie

Manager

I’m Debbie, and I’ve proudly managed The Personalised Learning College since 2011. With over 30 years of experience in education, starting as a teacher and moving into leadership, I’ve found my true passion here at the PLC.

What I love most is spending time with our fantastic learners. Watching them challenge themselves and overcome barriers is truly inspiring and reminds me every day why we do what we do.

Outside of work, I’m an avid crafter. My craft room is my happy place, where I’m always immersed in my latest project.

Debbie

Debbie

Hambleton Coordinator

I’m David and I’m the manager of the Hambleton PLC campus. I’ve been part of the PLC team since 2017, but my journey in special educational needs (SEN) began back in 2006, right after university. Supporting individuals with SEN has always been a real passion of mine.

What I love most about working at the PLC is the opportunity to design exciting new provisions that truly meet the needs of our learners. There’s nothing better than seeing something I’ve helped create spark enthusiasm and make a real difference.

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the countryside with my two adventurous dogs, Poppy and Florence, they definitely keep me on my toes!

Cherie

Cherie

Selby Coordinator

I’m Cherie and I run the Selby campus. I’ve been with the Personalised Learning College since 2016 and it’s been amazing to see the Selby campus grow from just a handful of learners to the 25 we now have on programme.

What I love most about my role is seeing the incredible impact the PLC has on our young people. Watching their confidence and independence grow over time is truly inspiring.

And a fun fact about me: I’m a keen gardener and I actually have a degree in floristry so I’m never far from flowers, whether at work or at home!

Carl

Carl

Scarborough Coordinator

I’m Carl and I manage the Scarborough campus. I’ve been working in education for 15 years, and I’ve spent the last 7 of those with the PLC. I genuinely love everything about working here, but what inspires me most is watching our learners grow into confident young adults, achieving things they once thought were out of reach.

A fun fact about me is that I also work in the music industry! I’ve had the chance to collaborate with some big-name artists as a production manager and assistant director on music videos and large-scale events. It’s been an exciting journey and definitely a cool conversation starter!

Susan

Susan

Harrogate Coordinator

I’m Susan, and I’ve been part of the Harrogate PLC team since May 2018, back when we didn’t even have our own site! We moved into our current building in 2019, which was such an exciting time. It meant we could welcome more learners and offer even more opportunities.

I’ve worked in education for 25 years, starting out teaching hairdressing. Over the years, I’ve had a variety of roles, but they’ve always involved working with SEN learners, that’s where my heart is.

One of my favourite moments each year is our end-of-year celebration. Seeing our learners with their friends and families always brings a tear to my eye, it’s such a proud moment.

And a fun fact about me, I’ve never been without a pet! Right now, I have two cats who couldn’t be more different… one’s super chilled, and the other is always on the move.
