Enterprise is an important part of life at the Personalised Learning College. It gives learners the chance to develop practical skills, work as part of a team, and experience what it’s like to run real projects. Each hub has its own unique enterprise activity that reflects the interests of learners and the local community.
At Northallerton, learners run a popular scone café where they bake and serve fresh scones, giving them hands-on experience in food preparation and customer service. Our nurseries also grow and sell plants, teaching learners about horticulture and business skills. Over at Selby, plans are underway for a community garden, which will provide opportunities to learn about gardening, sustainability, and teamwork.
We also run seasonal activities throughout the year, such as making Christmas crafts to sell at local events. These projects are not just fun, they help learners build confidence, creativity, and practical skills. The money raised from enterprise activities is used to fund trips and treats for learners, making these experiences even more rewarding.
